Network Registration

To access the Internet via the Harvard network, you have to register your computer's network card. The process for registering is simple:

  1. Once connected to the network, start up a web browser and go to any web page (http://cyber.law.harvard.edu works).
  2. You should get a netconnect registration page instead of the requested web page. That page asks for a Harvard ID and a pin or last name. Submit the form using the following info:
    • Harvard ID: 88888888 (that's eight "8"s)
    • pin or last name: bloggercon
  3. Once you have logged in with the above information, you will get a registration page that asks for a phone number, an email address, the OS of your computer, and an expiration date. Please enter all of the requested information. For the expiration date, just enter a date beyond this weekend. Submit the form.
  4. Once you have submitted the registration page, you will get a page indicating that your computer's network card is now registered on the network. To access the network using your now registered network card, you need to request a new ip address. The easy way to do so is simply to reboot your computer.
  5. After the reboot, your computer should be able to access the Harvard network for the rest of the weekend without going through this process again.
